I went with 2 women friends, an Australian and a Mexican, to Charlie's because they have quite good tacos. The champignon/pablano chile, is one of my favorites in Tulum. From the first contact the waiter was extremely rude, particularly to me , from the US, and my Mexican friend. And then they tried to double charge us for my friend's two Pina Coladas, and added a 10% tip to the bill. When I calmly explained what happened to the owner, Charlie, he not only didn't apologize in any way for the waiter's behavior but blithely said that the 390 peso charge for 2 pina coladas was a mistake. In spite of the good food, I would never go to Charlies again and can see why it had few customers on a night when many other restaurants in the Tulum pueblo were full.
